RadioOpt was founded in 2008 as a spin-off from the Vodafone mobile communications chair at Dresden University of Technology. The company is providing innovative software solutions to mobile network operators. The startup experience of the founders and their longstanding insight in the mobile communications market assures to deliver solutions that are tailored to exactly meet the strategic objectives of its customers.
Management Team
Johannes Huebner, co-founder and chief executive officer, is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and the growth of the company. Before RadioOpt, he founded and helped to grow Radioplan (automatic network optimization software specialist) as management director from a spin-out in 2000 to a successful and profitable company, until its acquisition by Actix in 2006. Afterwards he was member of the senior management team of Actix and was responsible for the R&D team as chief product officer. Before he joined Radioplan, Johannes was involved in research topics in the field of RF propagation modeling and he is co-author of 13 international publications. He has excellent knowledge in RF optimization solutions, operator business needs, and related workflows. Johannes has an outstanding reputation in the wireless industry and is always seen as a trusted advisor and partner.
Dr Ernesto Zimmermann, co-founder and chief operations officer, is responsible for the delivery of an exceptional quality of professional services and support to our customers. He has more than 5 years project management experience in German, European and industry projects, a rich network in wireless industry, extensive knowledge of wireless systems covering both physical layer and network aspects, and more than 15 years experience in software design. He gained industry experience at IBM and McKinsey Business Technology Office (BTO). During and after his graduation as PhD at Dresden University of Technology he co-authored over 40 papers, and is co-inventor of several patents.
Dr René Habendorf, co-founder and chief technology officer, is responsible for the technology and development of our products. He brings extensive knowledge of wireless systems on physical and network layer to RadioOpt, up to operator network management tools and related data structures. He has been awarded several prizes as best student (Lohrmann-Medal, SAX-IT Nikolaus-Joachim-Lehmann-Price) and best PhD in 2008 (Barkhausen-Price). René has in-depth know-how of wireless handset architectures through internships at Systemonic AG / Philips Semiconductors Germany, and is co-author of 14 papers and co-inventor of several patents.
Advisory Board
Gerhard Fettweis, co-founder and non-executive director, is heading the endowed Vodafone chair for mobile communications systems as Dresden University of Technology. He is co-founder of 8 successful startups - Systemonic (acquired by Philips Semiconductors in 2002), Radioplan (acquired by Actix in 2006), Signalion, In-Circuit, Dresden Silicon (acquired by Signalion in 2007), Freedelity, RadioOpt, and Bluewonder. In the last 14 years he acquired and managed more than 250 MEUR research funds and is co-author of more than 500 papers.
Rob Dobson, co-founder and non-executive director, is the founder of Actix. He created the company to focus on wireless performance engineering solutions in 1991, and has worked with many of the world's leading mobile operators and infrastructure vendors as both CEO and CTO to build the business into the international leader Actix is today. He holds a 1st class honours degree in Electronic Engineering.
